Thoughts & Inspiration

As the trip comes closer and closer, things are becoming more real and exciting. But with that concerns and doubt have tried to creep their way into my life..

“And I ready for this?”..

“Will I be able to leave my family and friends for nine whole months?“..

“Will I be ready in time for the trip?”..

Questions like these seem to cross my mind more often as the departure date approaches. These thoughts are from the enemy, not from God.

Today is one of the first absolutely beautiful days weather-wise that we have had so far where I live, so I decided to go for a walk around the neighbourhood. During the walk I spent time in prayer with God. The question of whether I’m qualified for this mission trip came to mind and immediately I felt God tell me that even though I may not feel ready.. he has been preparing me for this all my life.

Ephesians 2:10 says;

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

This mission trip may not have been something I have been knowingly preparing myself for.. but God has known about this since before I was even born. All my life he has been preparing me, for where I am today and where I’m going to be tomorrow. This may seem big, and a bit daunting at times but 1 Corinthians 10:25 says;

“…God is faithful, and he will not let you be temped beyond your ability..”.

I find that verse comforting because I know that God knows what I am capable of and I know that he would never give me a task that I can’t complete.

I’m not saying that this trip won’t challenge me, I am fully expecting to be pushed out of my comfort zone, tested in my trust and faith in the Lord, and that I’m going to miss my family. But I know that I can do it because God said I can.

But this message is not just for me.. It’s for all my fellow World Racers who are preparing themselves for this trip, and its for everyone else who isn’t. No matter who you are or what you do, God has a plan for you. Maybe you have something that feels like its to much for you right now, or you feel overwhelmed by something. Know that God will never give you something you can’t handle. It may be a challenge but God’s got your back, and he will see you through if you trust in him and give your stresses and doubts to him.

God has prepared all of us for “such a time as this” (Esther 4:14).

For those of you who are curious as to how the preparation of my trip is coming along, I’m pleased to say that I have been speaking with my church about holding a fundraising night in June. Lots to do before then so please keep me in your prayers.

God bless you!

Hannah 🙂
